Lexi Fujita

Fujita is a Yonsei process-based interdisciplinary craft artist and fashion designer. Born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawai’i, she is currently based between New York and Hawai’i. Through textiles and printmaking she meets at the intersection of fashion and textile composition, using traditional processes while challenging techniques. Drawing deeply on personal narratives, Fujita explores the Hawai’i culture that raised her and the Japanese culture that is inherently part of her to inform her work as a craft artist. In her most recent works, she uses the Hawaiian Pidgin language as a constant descriptor of her working style, as it is a unifying melting pot of ideas, culture, and history.
